Erie, Pa (June 2, 2012) –Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation (KCRF) receives recognition from the Lester Smith Pink Well Challenge, collecting a total of $325,919.06 towards the continued research of the Kanzius Noninvasive Radiowave Cancer Treatment. The Pink Well Challenge was an 18-week long social media contest founded by Texas oil tycoon, philanthropist and three time cancer survivor, Lester Smith, of the Lester and Sue Smith Foundation. Thirty organizations were chosen to participate in the challenge, each of them delivering unique and impactful work with the ultimate goal of ending breast cancer. Supporters were able to vote for their chosen organization on the Lester Smith Pink Well Challenge webpage from January 16, 2012 to May 16, 2012 as well as give donations in the name of the challenge to their favorite charity. In October 2011, during an introductory four day, pre-Pink Well contest, the Kanzius Foundation obtained the most votes, and received a $25,000 Pink Well “Ellen” Award; a donation from the Lester and Sure Smith Foundation in honor of Ellen DeGeneres for her work to eradicate breast cancer. In the second chapter of the Pink Well Challenge, The Kanzius Foundation again obtained the highest number of votes, with more than 120,000 votes, and an award grant of $50,000 for their video featuring the testimonials of four breast cancer survivors. Additionally $205,919.06 in donations was raised during the contest specifically earmarked for the Pink Well Challenge and the Lester and Sue Smith Foundation matched the first $45,000. In total, KCRF can apply $325,919.06 towards the ongoing research of the “world’s most promising cancer treatment.” With the recent announcement of the first national conference, faces2012, as well as the successes that resulted from the Lester Smith Pink Well Challenge, the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation is gaining a tremendous amount of momentum. “The way our supporters rally around this cause, continuously displaying their unwavering excitement and endless dedication throughout the challenge, proves that they are more ready than ever for what a national conference has to offer,” said Mark A. Neidig, Sr., Executive Director. “The successes in the Pink Well Challenge will certainly be celebrated throughout and beyond the events of faces2012!” Additional information about the Pink Well Challenge is available atwww.Kanzius.org/PinkWellResults.
