MAKING WAVES: Beating cancer is about belief, understanding

Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation Executive Director, MARK A. NEIDIG SR.

The recent diagnosis of Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts with myelodysplastic syndrome caused millions of Americans to realize the long-lasting effects chemotherapy and radiation can have on cancer patients.

Just because cancer has gone into remission does not necessarily mean a patient's fight is finished. MDS is a disease of the blood and bone marrow and was once known as "preleukemia," and can be brought on as a result of chemotherapy and radiation.

MDS is one of the biggest drivers of the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation. We have always believed that there is a better way to treat cancer. Chemotherapy doesn't make sense. In fact, it's counterintuitive. You flood your body with toxins in order to get rid of another set of poison.

As John Kanzius sat through his own chemotherapy treatments, he came to the same realization. And, thus, the seed was planted for the Kanzius Noninvasive Radiowave Cancer Treatment. Inhumane treatments and their devastating results are enough to believe anything is better than what is currently available.

As the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation continues to move forward by funding the research unique to Kanzius' method, we must continue to believe.

The foundation has come a long way since its creation in 2008. We have moved the single idea of one man targeting a cancer cell specifically with a nanoparticle and passing a controlled radio wave over it to destroy it without side effects from a dream to near-reality.

We are unlike any other cancer organization, not because of our life-altering research or commitment to change, but because when research is completed and the Kanzius Noninvasive Radiowave Cancer Treatment can be used on humans, the Kanzius Foundation will shut its doors. We have no alternative agenda than to develop an effective treatment for cancer using this method.

We continue to focus on this achievement until we can celebrate and give so many cancer patients what they desire -- a life without side effects. No other cancer organization boasts this goal, nor are they remotely close to it.

Nearly every donation made to the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation is made because of the pain caused by a loved one's cancer and a personal experience that is associated with it.

More than likely, you have had your own experience with cancer. It is rare to come across an individual who does not share in the pain that cancer can create. It must stop! We hold an amazing power; the power to stop a disease that has affected so many. Beating cancer is not about winning or losing. Beating cancer is about belief, understanding and strength.
