The mission of the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation goes far beyond the foundation itself. The fight for a better way to treat cancer requires the support of both a global and local community alike.

Peggy Paul, a retired teacher and owner of the Three Gables Inn, and her mighty team of 15 women, the Three Gables Inn Team, is from the small community of Corry, Pa.

Adrian was born and raised in San Diego. He is the youngest of 7 siblings, and family has always been the most important thing. Adrian has added a beautiful wife and three amazing children to their brood. Angela has been the love of his life for the last 13 years. They have a 19 year old son, Armando, who has decided to start his adult life in service of others as a proud member of the US Army. He is currently on the front lines, stationed in Afghanistan. Kai, their 14 year old son, is a bright young man who is also a member of the JROTC. Marlee, 9 years old, is their baby girl and is the actress, director, singer extraordinaire, and is destined for amazing things. In 2003, Adrian was living the life of a successful business owner and family man. His concrete company, Pacific Coast Concrete, was growing and thriving. His beautiful family was complete and life was beautiful.  Nobody could have foreseen or expected what life would bring them next.

Toni Dillon was thirty eight years old when a lump was discovered, and the following year she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Although her diagnosis was devastating, Toni decided she was going to stay strong and fight off her cancer. Toni was treated with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. Knowing that her beautiful, waist-length hair would fall out from her treatment, Toni did the one thing that she felt she had control over and she donated her 18 1/2 inch braid to Locks of Love.&nbsp;As she was approaching her "magic mark" of being a five year survivor, she received news that a new form of breast cancer was discovered and the first form had metastasized to both of her lungs.

Tia Deas

In October of 2010, 30 year-old Tia Deas was diagnosed with stage three, triple negative breast cancer. Tia discovered two large lumps in her breasts during a self-examination. Finding it odd, she went to the doctor where she had a mammogram and a biopsy done. The biopsy came back as cancerous. Being told that she had breast cancer came as a shock for Tia, especially since she had no known history of cancer in her family. The news immediately put Tia&rsquo;s life into a new swing of constant worry and anxiety about the treatment she would receive.

Jim Brown - RUN for DORI

Dorothy Sawyer Brown of Nashville, TN, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in June 2007. Like so many, life for the Brown family suddenly changed. Dori, as she was fondly addressed by her family and friends, was described as "a light who followed in the footsteps of Christ, loving, genuine, graceful, kind"—a role model to her husband, Jim, of 16 years.
